How much does the UK ETA cost?
£20 per person
That is the full official cost, paid once for an authorisation valid 2 years. It rose from £16 on 8 April 2026. Everyone travelling needs their own ETA, including children.

Pay once, on the official channel
Apply through the official UK ETA app or gov.uk/eta, and you pay exactly £20- nothing more. Sites that promise to “handle” your ETA simply re-enter the same form and pocket the difference. There is no faster or better version to buy.
Heading to Europe on the same trip? The UK ETA is separate from the EU system - check your Schengen days with the free 90/180 calculator and compare the two on UK ETA vs ETIAS.
Frequently asked questions
How much does the UK ETA cost?
The UK ETA costs £20 per person. Everyone needs their own, including children and babies, so a family of four pays £80.
Did the UK ETA fee go up?
Yes. The fee rose to £20 on 8 April 2026, up from £16 (and £10 when the scheme first launched). Always check the current price on gov.uk/eta before applying.
Is the UK ETA fee refundable?
No. The £20 fee is non-refundable, even if your application is refused or you decide not to travel. That is one more reason to apply only through the official channel, where you pay the fee once and nothing extra.
Why do some websites charge much more?
Because they are middleman sites that add their own mark-up for a service you do not need. The official UK ETA app and gov.uk charge only £20. Third-party “ETA services” are the same scam pattern the EU warns about for ETIAS - pay extra, get nothing more.
What does the fee get me?
One ETA, valid for 2 years or until your passport expires, good for multiple visits of up to 6 months each across the whole UK. It is a single payment for the full validity period, not per trip. See the UK ETA overview.
